Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy describes what personal data Pharis processes, for what purpose, how long it is retained, and how you can exercise your rights. Pharis complies with Mexico's Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP).
1. Data Controller
Pharis is the data controller for personal data collected through its desktop application, Chrome extension, and this website. For any matter related to your data, you may contact us at the email address indicated at the end of this policy.
2. Data We Collect
We collect only the data necessary to provide the service:
- Identification and contact data: name and email address, typically the institutional email used by the student or professor to access the service.
- Academic usage data: history of questions and conversations with the tutor, topics consulted, and study patterns (frequency and duration of sessions).
- Course context: references to assignments, materials, and instructions from your institution's Moodle installation, which Pharis connects to in order to provide contextual responses.
- Technical data: minimal session information (device type, browser, and error logs) for the operation and security of the service.
Pharis does not request sensitive personal data. We ask that you do not share such information in your conversations with the tutor.
3. How We Use Your Data
We process your data for the following purposes:
- Providing and improving the service: delivering responses with the context of your course and improving the quality of the tutor experience.
- Pedagogical analytics for professors: generating the monitoring dashboard and at-risk student alerts based on recorded study patterns and questions. This analytics data is shared with the professor and the corresponding educational institution.
- Security and support: preventing misuse, diagnosing failures, and handling support requests.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising purposes.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or for the duration of your relationship with your educational institution. Once the academic cycle or contractual relationship with the institution ends, data is retained for the period necessary to fulfill legal obligations and then deleted or irreversibly anonymized for aggregate statistical analysis.
5. Your Rights
Under the LFPDPPP, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and learn how we process it.
- Rectify your data when it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Cancel your data when you consider it is no longer required for any of the stated purposes.
- Object to the processing of your data for specific purposes.
You may also revoke any consent you have granted and limit the use or disclosure of your data. To exercise any of these rights, send your request to the email address below, indicating your name, the right you wish to exercise, and a way to contact you. We will respond within the timeframes established by law.
6. Security
We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. Access to pedagogical analytics is restricted to the professor and authorized personnel of your institution.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or applicable regulations. We will publish any changes on this page, updating the "last updated" date.
